"We have had an irish man round today looking for ponies to buy. We sent him away and have informed the police, but please keep your eyes open and let us know if you see anyone suspicious."

Random Question and a bit of a stab in the dark but was his name Raymond by any chance?

we had that at my old yard about a year ago - must have been around this time of year actually as i think that it was just before i got ches.

Whereabouts in Essex, we had a couple of men walking along back of our neighbours field a couple of weeks ago taking a lot of interest in their ponies.

There was a doddy Irish bloke the used to go about the north east of scotland he was apparently quite good at taken horses on loan and them selling them same with lorrys, trailers etc, he has moved on now and not been hers of for a while.

The sort of bloke that once you have herd from him you never forget him.

Quite abrupt in his approach and a bit of a know all, he would pick out the biggest shinnyst horse on the yard and ask if it was for sale.

Still gives me shivers, it was like he was checking out the whole yard, Tack, rugs, gats on the fields, which horses were stabled etc

There have been a number of break-ins and thefts around the chingford/high beech area over the last week , they have taken mainly tack from 3 different yards! One in broad daylight!!
They also tried to come back to one yard a second time in one day.
Over £1400 worth of rare breed chickens were stolen from one yard.
Also a till was stolen in broad daylight for a well know riding school in broad daylight, the theifs were described as 1 white male and one asian/mixed race male driving a silver mondeo.
