Can someone recommend a cheap and cheerful estate for towing please. Will need to tow 1 x horse around 550kg in an ifor 505. We only go to one venue now 20 mins away, all flat roads and venue on stone/ gravel. I currently have a sorrento which is fabulous for towing but we will need to change it soon. I don't think we need a 4 x4 now.

There is one of these at our local garage. It's a 2.4 D5. Says towing capacity between 1800kg and 2100kg. Would that be big enough for my set up?

yes, your looking at 1600kgs give or take. You can google your trailer and find out the exact weight to be sure.

Mines a 2.4 diesel V70. I pull a single Ifor trailer and up to 550 kg of horse and can barely feel it's towing anything even up steep hills (one is 25%). I had a 2l car before and it is so much more powerful. I don't know the exact weigh I'm towing probably up to around 1300kg though 1200kg with my pony.
I'm pretty sure it would pull your setup where you are going.

I had a VW passat alltrack to tow with for years. 2.2ton towing and I used to happily tow 1100kg trailer + 800kg horse all over the place.
Hubby used it for commuting and it wasn't overly thirsty either, on the motorway he could get 60mpg.
