Hi there
My boy is having ethanol fusion in his left hock this Thursday, providing the contract die does not travel further up into his hock. Has anybody had this treatment for their horse and how successful was it? Also what exercise programme did you have to follow afterwards? My boys spavin was diagnosed last year, he has had steroid injections which he reacted to very well, first one lasted 9 months, he was then done again but it only lasted six weeks, we gave him one last injection and it only last two so we have decided on the ethanol as a last resort. If this does not help then he will be retired. He is only ten and has had quite an easy life so far. I think he will be on box rest for a day or two and then his exercise can resume, he has been in full work up until yesterday, he is also turned out overnight and comes in for a few hours during the day.
Any feedback would be really appreciated.
