I know that there are certain things you should not do but could someone please tell me what they are or provide a good internet link so that I don't offend when I start taking part please.

Hello!
Have you had a look at the first post that is in this forum? Its quite good but may take a while to read through! Also, the Pony Club do a good leaflet, its 30p and you can order it from their website, I use it to teach the little ones who are taking their hunting certificate.

Mainly just make sure you say 'Good Morning' to the master and other members, and 'Good Night' when you're leaving. Find the secretary (usually with a saddle bag full of money) and give them your money/ cap as soon as you mount. Ask someone if they will stick with you for your first couple of times, and ask them as many questions as you can. If you are polite, inconspicuous, and keep well back in the field, you cant go far wrong. Re tack/ clothing etc, if you just make sure you are clean, with plain colours then no one will mind what you wear for the first few meets. Keep your horses bum turned away from hounds and hunt staff when they pass. You will pick most of it up as you go along!

Who will you be hunting with?

Agree with previous comments.

Also, tell the Master or a member of hunt staff that it's your first time and they will point out someone you can follow.

Never go in front of the Master while out.

Keep a distance from hounds, but always have your horse facing them if you are close.

Say thank you to the Master when you have finished.

If you decide to go home early, let hunt staff know so they are not looking for you in a ditch !

Above all, have FUN :)
