Firstly, sorry if you guys don't have this brand in the UK!

If so/you have used it, what do you think of it?

I feed their premium performance to my dog who is mainly Border Collie and some kind of pointer (Vizsla or GSP) as she loses weight on anything else, and cause I think it works out cheaper than the normal medium breed stuff.

If anyone has any other suggestions (Royal Canin, Iams or Hills) for a over active, OCD tendency, lunatic dog, let me know! She keeps her weight okay in summer on 'vet' stuff, but will drop it come winter unless I up her food by 1/2 and put a jacket on her. I know, I know, she's a dog and can deal, but when she shivers at night in the middle of winter when she's practically in bed with me, I feel bad.

It's not the best food. Makes lots of poo!
If you don't want to feed raw, then James wellbeloved or royal canin would be better or possibly skinners.
Other people may have other ideas though.

I have fed mine on it for years , my dogs live longer than average for their breed and stay fit and active well into old age I won't be changing .

Not the greatest ingredients:

Dried Chicken and Turkey (37%, a natural source of Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate), Maize, Animal Fat, Wheat, Rice, Sorghum, Dried Beet Pulp (3.9%), Dried Whole Egg, Hydrolysed Animal Proteins, Fish Oil, Brewer’s Dried Yeast, Potassium Chloride, Fructooligosaccharides (0.54%), Sodium Chloride, Linseed, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Calcium Carbonate.

The cartilage in meat products is the source of Glucosamine, that gives you an idea of the quality of the chicken and turkey they have in this product. Maize, animal fat, wheat and rice as the next ingredients is not great.

There are much better quality kibbles on the market, none of the ones you have mentioned are any better than Eukanuba. This is a good place to look for a good quality food: http://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/

Google Iams animal experiments, not nice. Royal Canin is as poor quality as Eukanuba and outrageously priced for what's in it. Look at whichdogfood.co.uk for some decent reviews.

Must admit even though my mum feeds all hers on it, I wouldn't touch Royal Canin with a bargepole - odd when I feed Skinners without a murmur! She used to feed Eukanuba, I think (not sure, don't quote me!) she had problems with it being too high in protein and making the dogs very itchy. But that might have been another brand, I lose track...

I'd love to be able to feed her a raw diet, but she goes to dads a fair bit when I am away so it's be too fiddly for him with his two labs. In winter I do buy frozen disks of beef or chicken for her and she gets the odd bit of meat I feed to the cats.

I'm horrified at Iams! I used to feed that stuff to my cats! And I have. Half empty box of Iams dog treats that pup loves!

Iams for cats was great many years ago ,all the breeders used it and it was only available in selected places but if i remember it sold out as many do and went supermarket quality and price, all the breeders i knew stopped using it .
My Weimaraner loses weight easily as he is super active and has allergies, iv'e tried many brands, Royal Canin is overpriced rubbish, Burns is ok but he lost loads of weight, Proplan gave him a dodgy tummy, I have done best with James Wellbeloved, he looks amazing and keeps the weight on, the other i really liked was Lukallus which is cold pressed like pellets, he did well on that but the price went up so much i swapped to JWB. i'm currently trialing Arden Grange as i was given 2 huge bags, am mixing it at present but it's looking ok for his tummy so far but i'll have to wait to see about his weight. It's always the same though that what works for one dog doesn't work for another, good luck!!
