Hi
My friend has asked me to go and look at a horse for sale with her, being sold by a dealer called Sophie Rudge or Eurohorses. I was wandering if anyone had bought from them and could tell me anything about them please?

Also, its been ages since I have been to look at a horse so can you suggest questions I should be asking (also I not been to a dealer before

) i'm not an idiot

but can get tongue tied sometimes so I thought i'd arm myself with a list of possible questions.

Thank You

questions to ask

Any Vices/Allergies?
Hacks alone and company?
compition record? (depending what horse is being bought for)
What is horse fed?
how is to catch?
Good to tack up? (if you dont see it tacked up)
how is horse currently kept? (24/7 turnout?)
PASSPORT? ( an essential question)
Vaccinationsup to date?

Dont know much other than she imports horses from the continent, works them and sells them. Most seem to have xrays done. An acquaintance of mine has just bought one from her and it does seem a very nice horse for sensible money but has a few nappiness issues.

I think the only problem is that often horses from abroad are started much earlier and pushed much further at a young age so you need to be careful. Not really sure how much of a problem it is and Im sure it depends on the horse. Also Im not sure how easy it is to get a competition record for an imported horse but someone else might be able to tell you.

If this is your friends first horse Id possibly be concerned about her buying from here as Eurohorses seem to specialise in well bred sporthorses. Just something to consider.

Her website looks genuine enough. But dont they all!!!

I would NOT recommend you and your friend go there unless you are very able riders and very knowledgable in purchasing horses. Horses such as these are brought over from the continent and worked hard to enable them to be sold. Once this level of riding drops off, or they are rested, problems can arise.

please wait for my pm. i agree with Mialottzo strongly feel it would be wrong to buy from this dealer.
will pm you straight away. also look back on forums you might find it answers some questions on eurohorses.

good luck
