I'm watching the European Championship showjumping, and I'm wondering if anyone else finds some of the colour combinations on the fences/poles a bit unusual? Two fences with brown (dark beige?) with beige stripes poles? Another combination with two fences in insipid beige with a bit darker beige stripes on the poles?
The eggshell white/light yellow(?) poles with fake marble pillars as the fence support looks very nice, but still a bit unusual colour.

I'm not sure how I should describe the course layout, but isn't it more somewhat sharp turns in a backwards direction, than usual?

I was just about to start a thread on the European SJ as I couldn't see that one had been started yet!

Here's a link to info of when it's on and who's on the team:

FL I haven't had a chance to watch yet but hopefully will catch some of it today still.

I'm lucky, I've been able to switch between watching it on TV, and SVT's Play app in my mobile.

Trying to not reveal too much, I'll just say that the course wasn't easy, and they will probably need to work quite a bit with the arena surface until tomorrow.

There are photos of Team GB schooling over the brown and beige ones

Day 2's competition have started. Today's third rider Gaalova had such twitchy hands, I sat wishing I could tell her to keep them more steady.

Some more interesting colour choices today, e.g. 2nd fence have a small box shaped bottom part below the poles, which is yellow with brown splotches. Giraffe coloured? The poles above the box have bright brown stripes at the outer ends, but the colour between that is some very faded colours.
5th fence have poles with faded mint and beige larger stripes mixed with smaller brown stripes.

Today's course seems to have more forward flow, compared to yesterday. Over 20 riders in, and the arena surface fortunately seems to hold better today.

I never managed to catch up on yesterdays but it's taken a bit of jumping today so far! Two clears in a row now though so maybe there will be a lot now it's been shown to be jumpable.

I think there was at least one with a clear round before the two came in a row, but knowing that it is jumpable doesn't seem to have helped much this far. But unlike yesterday, where it felt like fence number 8 was responsible for at least 50%, or more, of everyone's trouble, I think the faults are a bit more spread out over the whole course today.

However, maybe the tide will turn now when yesterday's top 10 teams have started, fingers crossed we will start to see more clear rounds now.

Maybe I'm the only HHO:er able to watch during the day, but the team final have started.

The giraffe coloured small bottom box is back, but today it have more bright brown with small yellow stripes coloured poles above it.
Fence 4, 5a + 5b, and 6 stands in a straight line, and have some lovely different green/mint colours.

And the commentators have just announced that Marcus Ehning won't start! But they saw him walk the course earlier today, dressed for riding except no helmet, so no idea what have happened.

I'm also watching on my lunch break :) I'm surprised by how few others are watching, I'm guessing Burghley has had an impact and I don't think that much has been made of it in the UK this time? Possibly it looks like GB were using it as an opportunity to get riders senior team experience rather than chasing the medals and hence it wouldn't have been in their interests to promote it so much?

Sadly team GB haven't had the best luck in this championship, maybe an early good result would've increased the interest. But team Ireland are up there in the top 4, so I would've thought there was at least a bit more interest.

Don’t subscribe so couldn’t watch it unfortunately. Will have to watch the Vuelta instead. Well done to Sweden though.

I'm lucky, its on a free TV channel here in Sweden. But I haven't fully recovered yet. First I sat on needles worrying about how it would go for the Swedish riders, then I worried about if we would have to count von Eckermann's 4 fault, and was fully expecting to to have to continue to worry about that until our last rider had been in, when *boom* suddenly before the 4th riders had even been in, it was clear we had won.

And as I understood it, nobody actually told Rolf-Göran that they had won before his ride, because they didn't want to disturb his focus. But afterwards he said he already knew, because as he said it "I can count, so I knew we had won".
