Trying to decided which to use. Used rubber in the past but it is heavy to lift etc. Like the sound of EVA being warm and 'cushioned' and also very easy to lift etc but also had a few people say they have had problems with it 'curling' especially in hot weather and also tearing. Anyone had any experience of it? Thanks

Mine curled slightly to start with and I taped over the joins for a few weeks with duck tape and it soon settled. I also had to trim it a couple of times after installation as it does spread. Still better than hard rubber though

I use 34 mm EVA mats from Horse Mats + and I am very happy with them. They are larger size than some other makes, and I've not had any issues with curling whereas I have with smaller size and slightly thinner mats - although to be fair those were bought 10 years ago (still going strong though!). I really like these EVA mats from Horse Mats + - warm and supportive, easy to lift for cleaning, easy to fit (as long as you have someone who knows what they're doing with a stanley knife to cut straight edges - e.g. not me!). They do 6 and 12 mat specials, seem to be competitively priced with similar products in the marketplace.

We have both, for different reasons.

Have had the cow-comfort EVA mats for over 15 years without any problems. Cheaper than horse ones, warmer, more 'give' so better support, easy to lift, clean and take to away shows. However one horse is a complete wriggler and seems to manage to move them during the night if they are not wedged completely into the stable.

The heavy solid rubber ones never move, stay flat and were relatively cheap, but they are a total pain to clean and disinfect. Given the choice I would go for EVA.

I have interlocking EVA mats - cheap ones from Robinsons!! They have never curled, soft and durable - however they are an unattractive green colour, which looks evens better covered in poop x
