Even my stables flooded :-(

Not quite sure what to do (other than hope this rain stops very soon) My little yard is in a very low lying wet area and i got a call at work this morning to say my o/h had gone to feed and had to bring them in as the field is literally under water (its even flowing in places) just been to check them and the ditch running along the bottom of the field is full and starting to burst over and my poor horse is stood in an inch of water in his stable! His bed is dry at the back but its literally half way up his hooves where he's stood.
If the ditch go's over i am actually going to cry!

Still i feel bad complaining when o/h has just gone off to help his dad take their furniture upstairs as its coming in the house. Sadly they were flooded out a few years back and it took months of drying out and dehumidifiers going...they are facing that again, at least my house is dry.

Hows every one coping?

Sorry to hear this, flooding would be my worst nightmare, hopefully it will not happen to me.

Ditto the sandbags for the stable.

Sadly i think its mostly coming up from the floor as out side his door its dry? not quite sure whats on tbh.
I have a scalping/hard standing at the bottom of the fields with wooden stables stood on then matted inside. They have always been dry and ive never known this before but the sheer amount of water coming off the fields i guess.
Im trying to find the impulsion to head back down and have another think! I guess he can stand at the very back if he wants to get out of it but might just turn back out maybe fence a but of dryer area off is i can!
 
Feel your pain, have my sympathy see my post about grazing. I have actually cried, all the way home from holiday niw
Back and horses ok, quite happy with their livin arrangments and lame cob seems quite happy with his adventure. All i can say is good luck and hope things get better and we do put our selves through this for a reason :)
 
Echo the sandbags suggestion.
I've just been saying I'll get a bag of Megazorb tomorrow for the retired cob's stable. We are right at the top of the Pennines, so really if we are ever flooded it's a poor look out for every-one else but we have earth floors and hers is getting soggy. I can't remember our land being as wet in all the time we've been here, there is just nowhere left for the water to drain to.

As you say though, it's worst for those poor souls whose houses are at risk of flooding yet again. I hope your parents-in-law are ok.
 
oh blimey that is horrible!


I was concerned this morning when I saw a pond developing in a dip in my field, I've been there nearly 3 years and never had this before! and i dont even think the rain has been that bad really! not like it was earlier in the year but I'm guessing the ground just isn't coping where it was so wet before hand! hope it dries out soon!
