Reading a show schedule last night, I noticed that the evening classes were all marked as to be attended wearing evening wear. But all the evening classes were championships. So you'd only need evening wear if you came first or second in a class. Given what the show is, I'd imagine all the classes would be quite large.

A couple of questions about this popped into my head, which I wondered if people had come across answers to.

First being how do you know whether to take evening wear or not? If you don't know how well your horse would do, do you just take it in case? Does everyone take it just in case? What if you don't think you have a chance, don't take it, and then qualify - what would you do then?

Second thought was how on earth would you show a traditional cob in evening wear? I just can't imagine how I'd run my lad up in evening wear?!?! I'd imagine I'm going to struggle in normal clothes - let alone with a billowing skirt?! How does this work?

Anyone done this?

I always take evening wear (I qualified last September and looked like a right numpty in my tweed)

Maybe go for navy jacket with yellow breeches and long boots if you're really struggling to wear in hand attire?

I always take evening wear too, just in case - so far I've got a 100% record of actually using it but that also included classes where the top ten went through to the evening :)
