Why domy horses always do this! Max lost a shoe day 1 of camp. No farrier available within a 2 hour radius (I'd have trailered him over to anyone!)

Amber lost a shoe 2 days before Kelsall. Luckily my lovely farrier came after hours to sort her out.

Amber lost another one day before camp. Luckily someone else's farrier was on the yard and replaced it.

Now 2 days before Somerford her shoe is loose again. Trying to find someone to come.

Arghhhh

Yep I know that feeling

When I first got him F was a serial shoe puller but that’s much better now and only the occasional time if he’s hooning around the field. Which he doesn’t do often as that would involve too much no energy and interrupts eating grass! Noticed his nails were loose last week and knew they wouldn’t last but luckily managed to get farrier out a bit earlier than normal. Hope you get it sorted!

Yep.... Very familiar.... Every time I make even a hint of a plan one of the terrible two tbs will chuck off a shoe, most recently ripping chunks out of hoof as well. It's FINE though, haven't spent over a year getting hooves into good condition or forked out on entry fees... Oh no, wait..

Haha! Yep they choose the most expensive and annoying times to develop problems. She has had shoe re-fitted. Hurrah! Saturday's event is rescued.

They seem to know! One of the hunters I rode was a sucker for doing it. Last season we got them all ready the day before, turned out in small paddock overnight as it was September, got out of bed and to the yard for 3.30/4am and the horse had lost a bloody shoe!! This happened TWICE. Now he gets duck tape (think poultice style) and overreach boots the night before hunting.

Same!!! My horse also has a tendency to get footy after shoeing if not stood on a towel or similar while shoes are being changed!

ALWAYS pulls a shoe the week or so before an event. Usually after the cut of for getting entry money back.

He is now booted up to the eyeballs, and even though I want to cry every time he loses an over reach boot in the 20 acre field never to be seen again, I also sigh a breath of relief that it wasn't his shoe. He also gets foot supplements and hoof treatment everyday, as well as a 4 maybe 5 week shoeing cycle.

Horse is a nightmare!

Honestly...got to the yard after work... the doofus was missing an overreach boot and hobbling round the field... (3rd set of overreach boots trashed in a fortnight) shoe nowhere in sight. (same shoe was only put back on on Monday) Had just booked a flatwork lesson for tomorrow morning as we're supposed to have our first BD outing in about 3 months next week. I had some wine last night, not going to lie.
