well most event saddles are very similar to gp saddles, but if you look at amerigo close contact event saddles and the blyth tait event saddle they are forward cut with quite a flat seat ideal for crosscountry so i think it varies
Would say that is a GP. Hattikins is right, in some Jump saddles are labelled that aswell because they are specialised for XC riding, but can obviously be used for SJ aswell, so are labelled "event" saddles.
How on earth do you get a "event VSD"?! Surely that just doesnt work! An event saddle I thought, was one with slightly forwarder cut flaps (ie. for the jumping phases) but how can this be if its also "very slightly dressage"? Surely it would just be a plain GP??
I had an Ideal Event which did the job - I used it just like a normal GP (but I did jump more than I ever did dressage).
The Event is purely a name given to the saddle, and was designed over 20 years ago as a true general purpose saddle.... the VSD part does mean it is slightly straighter cut (it actaully stands for 'Vorking Showing Dressage' comes from Germany) so it means a GP saddle made on same tree but straighter cut and then there is the international hunt which is the same saddle but more forward cut - basically it's just the name......
