Can anyone help i'm looking for an Event saddle in a 16.5 (mw) that isn't a close contact. So far not seen many made in a 16.5, looked at Henri de Rivel but it was close contact and im not keen. I'm struggling, Any ideas please post thanks !!

Well i'm in a WH at the moment, my saddler said it may be better for me to steer more towards an Event saddle but doesnt want to put a close contact on my pony as she said it will put too much pressure on her shoulders due to the square shape at the front as when i tried a GFS close contact it dug in due to her big shoulder shape. hope that makes sense?! it made sense when she said it to me anyway!! I need something not too forward cut, i wouldnt get a jumping saddle on her for example, but im a adult pony rider and ride quite short so need something to accomodate my legs!

I have an Excelle Event saddle. Don't think its a close contact but could be wrong. Anyway its a lovely saddle, I do everything in it. It suits my long legs without being too forward cut.

Ok, event saddles are quite often jumping type GP saddles

Ideal have a good range, as do barnsby, and they suit large shouldered horses, I know as my horse has a HUGE shoulder and these fit him better than anything

As I type my husband is trying out CCJ's new saddle bought yesterday.
It's an Amerigo ? vega model, sort of dark brown and looks incredibly comfortable.
She tried Jacques in it over some jumps and said her lower leg felt really secure.
The other choice would have been a Devecoux, but as she hasn't got long legs the Vega suited her better.
She rides daily in both makes at work so had a good idea of what suited her before she started.
She paid £1500 including stud girth leathers etc , but then she could be knocking the price down a bit so as not to give us a heart attack...
