Had this reply from SLM -

Many thanks for your enquiry with regard to a camp in February. Unfortunately all the weekends in February are taken up with clinics and dressage/show jumping competitions which would make the arenas unavailable. We do have availability midweek during half term, 19th – 22nd or the other option would be to attend our Eventers’ Weekend which is running the last weekend in February, 23rd – 25th. This is aimed specifically at Eventers’ and runs from the Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon; you receive a flatwork, show jumping, xc preparation and xc lesson over the course of the weekend, and it is priced at £140 per person to include all of you meals, stabling & instruction.

Let me know if either of these options are suitable and we can go from there.

What do people think? We could join the already organised one which would be a lot less hassle for me.

(that was this years btw....)

I'm up[ for the eventers weekend if thats what others want to do- anyone know any of these instructors though?

I'd also be up for, alternatively, taking a group trip to a Mary King clinic or Kenneth Clawson- maybe could tie that in with an over-night stay and do 2 days??

ooh just seen they had a Mark Phillips xc last year- would LOVE to do that!!

Am I being thick - SLM?

Sounds like brilliant fun but I don't think those dates would be any good for me (and besides, I am guessing it is somewhere much further south than here).

I will email Pontispool as well. I think Danny Anholt teaches at Millfield. Ben V.S used to ride for someone will look into it! Umm my RC one was £110 for pretty much the same thing.

I have just emailed Pontispool. Will let you know once I get an answer. I would prefer a bit more flexibility with instructors so that we can choose them. Also I would prefer to keep cost around £100.

Weezy - you now ride an eventer.....

I don't even know what horse I'm going to have then, prorbably one allergic to ditches and water

I'll do it, as will Sarah. Amy did the eventers one at SL this year and really enjoyed it. She would probably do it, have 2 horses to ride herself and is also up for it!

Excellent news I know about 5 who live near me who will do it if I can organise it. As mentioned want to keep the cost around £100 as this seems better value with groups of 4/5. Am still waiting for a reply from Pontispool as looks like SLM might be out.

Polly Lochore used to do clinics at Burgie not sure if she still does them but she ran a couple last year for people wanting to the 3PN and riding club event at Burgie. But its a bit far for you! Although I'm sure Sarah Houlden runs clinics at Strathearn Eventing.

Have been keeping an eye on the website for Strathearn - infact better have another look! Love their course.

Greenfields did one this year but it was just Jumping.

One horse is too creaky and the other too green at the moment but would love to come down to heckle the rest of you....keep me updated with dates and venue please!!

Would not even consider a baby horse group? Even to come along and do a bit of hacking/flatwork/schooling?

A lot will depend on when I can get on and reback him to be honest so I dont think I could commit just yet!!

Although he might be up for a day trip!

If we end up going to either SLM or Pontispool they have a range of courses from 2' to BE Intermediate - something for everyone.
