Eventing Help Wanted

They do BYEH classes, which involves a simple dressage test, then a course of Sj at PN height (1.05 max) for 5 year olds, 1.15 in the final (I think!) Also do PAVO classes for 4, 5, 6 year olds with known breeding. 5yr old is PN, 6yr old Nov.

Yes what exactly do you need to know?
BE run young horse classes for 4,5, and 6 year olds, they run qualifiers throughout the year ( a full one day event) and if you get well placed in your qualifier you qualify for the championships at the end of October.
The 4 year olds do Intro classes, 5 year olds PN and 6 year olds Novice.

They run PAVO classes for young horses at 4, 5 and 6 years.

4 Year old is at Intro level and I believe must be done on a ticket a maximum of 4. This is at Intro level. Qualifiers start in July.

5 year olds are at PN level and 6 year olds at Novice level. The first 25% in a qualifying class qualify for the final at Tweseldown in September.

Check BE website for the qualifiers but I think there is about 7-8 qualifiers spread around the country.

Well, i am hopefully going to do eventing on the new horse. He was born 10 june 02. Does his age go from his birthday or january?
His breeding is known
I was wondering what all the rules were etc and where they are held (midlands?)

January. He is the same age as my boy! BYEH would be best then, as PAVO is just a normal ODE but competing against other 5yr olds, but you wont be able to compete in the champs.
BYEH qualifiers are at Rutland county, Knaptoft, will try find other midland events,.... you dont need to affiliate for BYEH ether.

BYEH sounds great.

Sorry to be stupid KatB but what sort of hieght do you jump your horse at hme and competition. My new lad is jumping 1m with total ease (not broken long) and will go higher but i also dont want to over jump him

Not big, he only has to jump 95cm for intro, so thats what we jump at home. Competing upto 90cm at the mo. Just doing alot of confidence building exercises at the mo cos he is still very green with his jumping! But IMO, at this age, height isnt too important, its getting them to see as many different filler, types of fence etc etc.

Thanks, that has reasured me lol! i was thinking the same as you but was looking at some of the BSJA things and some other people said they were jumping 1.20ish at this age. I would of thought it wouldn't be good on there legs?

A friend has a horse that was 2nd in the scope 4yr old champs two years ago (before she had him) the finals are 1.25. When she got him, he had completely thrown the towel in, its taken her a year of complete dedication to get him jumping BN/Disco well again. I almost got sucked in too, but just backing off and sorting balance and basics out before whacking them up!

Complete personal opinion though I think!
