Does anyone have a horse by Ghareeb or know of any? what level are they competing at? Do you find them easy to train etc, are they talented?
Just wondering how Ghareeb's progeny are doing as I have just bought a lovely young horse by Ghareeb, dam's sire is Cavalier Royale.
If anyone has any info on Cavalier Royale youngsters that would be great too!

Thanks

Sounds a lovely mix! I know of 2, one I went and tried when i was looking for a new horse. She was a very very smart mare, but wasn't the boldest and probably would have found Novice her absolute limit. The other is 6 and had time off due to injury, but is GORGEOUS, lovely temperament, fab paces, but again a little bit wimpy!! Time will tell how he goes, although there are high hopes for him.

A friend had a lovely grey horse called Kilronan. She sold him down south and Paul Tapner is riding him.

Moves beautifully, won his first two runs at Nov with Paul, then finished season with a double clear in his first intermediate. Very classy horse.

You beat me to it! That was the first Ghareeb horse that came to mind. I know of a couple of others who have been lovely and gone on to do well. I'd certainly buy one.

I have one, a 6 year old (out of a mare by Master Imp) whom i have had since he was 3, did BYEH as 4 and 5 year old and placed in all classes, placed in DR and WH and is going BE this season. He is my horse of a lifetime, amazingly easy and so loveable! I also had his 4 year old 1/2 brother by Ghareeb, who was exactly the same, he was sold just before Christmas and the new owners think the world of him. Very straight forward - used to compete both together at 4 and 5 and had no trouble. Good luck!
Can you post some pics of yours?

thanks for all the replies, she's is very similar to what you describe, very loving and kind, lovely paces and excellent jump.

thanks for all the info!

I have a 6yo by Ghareeb, out of a Cavalier Royale mare!
He is only 15.2 ish. He is a Shannondale horse.
He is an incredibly cheeky character, keeping him occupied is the name of the game.
He was brought over from Ireland as a 4yo, having hunted over there, he then did very little as a 4yo and 5yo over here, primarily due to lack of rider. He also cut himself quite badly meaning time off.
We bought him in August and so far he has done BSJA (Discovery), unaff dressage and a hunter trial(intro).
He can be a complex person, trickier to deal with on the floor than on top as he can be quite wary of you.
He has endless jump, I have to limit my self as he is still learning what to do with his legs.
He really is a horse that makes me smile every time I ride him and I have to keep pinching myself back into reality.

Shall I stop gushing about him now

That is his album on my facebook.

Good luck with yours, If I could I would fill my yard with more of them!!

There are some lovely Ghareebs around. A Ghareeb that was owned by people I know was Champion Riding Horse at the RDS last year. He is in the UK now. Have a look at www.eventingireland.com There are 26 Ghareebs registered for eventing in Ireland.

Mark Kyle also took a Ghareeb to Lion D'angers last year.

there was a beautiful little mare in dec sales in ireland by gahreeb. she sold for £500. had a lovely jump, wish I had bought her

Paul Tapner thinks a lot of Kilronan - a very talented horse. The Cavalier Royales are not always so straight forward. They have a reputation for having a "side" to them and can be quite strong willed.

I have a 4 y/o by Ghareeb. She has very nice paces, masses of scope, and is very bold, (took her XC schooling and jumped all the Intro fences first time).

She has a lovely temperament too, and is very calm and laid back, can be excitable to ride and bucks when she's completely bored stiff. But, you don't get perfect with anything. :)

(Also met Ghareeb in Ireland, and was a lovely chap - If I remember rightly wasn't he the 3rd progeny ranked event stallion in the BE rankings list or something or other in 2007?)

And Mark Kyles horse Coolio is by Ghareeb.
