Eventing in this weather!?

I'm supposed to be going to Bovington unaffiliated this Sunday to do my first Pre Novice before I run at Tweseldown in May but thinking that a nearly 2 hour journey each way in a trailer in this weather is not good as is trying to ride!!! Am umming and ahhing about it and wondering if I would be better off xc schooling in the next few weeks instead as I only ride for fun not really aiming for anything just a good day?!
What is everyone else doing at the moment? Am I just being a big girls blouse?!

I had this decision to make yesterday. I was entered at Milton Keynes at the end of the second day. Decided not to go and took horse xc schooling at tweseldown instead because the ground, being sandy, is great for wet weather practice, despite a few added water jumps! Annoying because it was meant to be his run before badminton grassroots but by the same token I didn't want to worry him with a run on bad ground. Difficult decision and have since read on here that people felt the ground rode well but I don't regret not going and I think for me it was the right decision to make. Not sure if that helps or not

Thanyou I was thinking that maybe schooling at Tweseldown sometime over the next week or two would be safer but don't know if I'm just being a pansy! I compete for fun but I don't even want to hack in this weather never mind eventing!

This weather is horrid! I'm meant to be hacking this afternoon but the wind is howling and it keeps peeing it down! Personally if I was you I would decide the night before. If it looks as though it's going to be another crappy day on sunday then personally I wouldn't go. Like you I compete for fun and to have good days out. Then again Sunday might be OK?
I did an event last sunday and wasn't sure if I was def going but the evening before and the morning of were actually nice and sunny so I went. I think the ground is pretty soggy at the moment as well whereas you could go schooling at T/D and you know the ground will be OK.....
Up to you but you do have the whole rest of the year to do other things if you decided not to go .

I think I will make the final decision on saturday evening, I had a huge tree go down in one of the paddocks yesterday and the weather is set to carry on as it is at the moment ( bloody horrid!) Just cleaned my dressage saddle and bridle so still sitting on the fence! Off for a sj lesson tomorrow, hopefully it will stop raining and blowing for an hour tomorrow?!

i withdrew from MK yesterday. I do this for fun and that wouldn't have been fun and looking at the photos it looks like a complete mud bath - horses jumping out of a foot of mud. very glad I didn't risk my horse in that.
