Hi!

I was just wondering how British Eventing and eventing ireland compare in terms of difficulty - or are they they very similar?

Also if a horse has points from eventing in Ireland, and you wanted to compete that horse in england under BE, would the points be transferred over to you BE account, or if the horse has won more than 2 pre novices in ireland would it also not be eligible for restrcted pn in BE?

Any help at all would be a life saver, i cant find the rules on this anywhere !

Do you know if the horse evented in the north or south of Ireland? The courses vary quite a bit, but on the whole there is not a huge difference between the standard of the courses... at PN anyway. Like anywhere you have easy and difficult ones, but having ridden the same horse for a season BE PN and then EI PN I would say the BE ones are slightly more difficult/ technical on the whole!

As for the points etc. I think they just transfer over, but for EI the horse is not eligible for PN if it has been placed 1st to 3rd in 3, while in BE the rule is not to have been 1st.

Hope this helps a bit?!

It Is harder to get points in eventing ireland as you must finish on dressage score ie. No time penalties

In BE you get points for a jumping double clear, and can have time penalties

It is easier to get points in Junior classes under EI rules than normal novice classes - as if you get placed you will get points.
Regarding the standard of horses - not sure if the standard is higher or lower than the UK - but Red Baron has been brought back to Ireland this season for junior classes.

I think EI do events in the north as well, as entry fees can be in euros or pounds...

Definitely do events in the North, Fiona is very knowledgeable about most EI things, if you're looking to know if the courses a horse did were hard or not, a lot of us one here could help with that?
