I would be interested if anyone has used lightweight stirrups.

Have never tried them - would worry that if I lost one XC it wouldn't hang properly and I wouldn't be able to get it back quickly.

Does that happen?

B uses synthetic L/W stirrups sometimes. She says they are easy enough to get back but the leather twists more. Have swapped back to the sprengers. It's difficult as we try to shave every ounce for W to carry. I joked in front of the PC Area coord that W was making the time better as B didn't wear underwear! Her face was a picture (so was B's!). B does wear underwear in case of accidents - you never know when the jods will split

We saved a fair bit of weight by swapping the prolite for a comfort zone pad for comps.

I know a few people who've had problems with lightweight stirrups either getting them back after losing them or finding their leg is much less secure so leg position not great in something lighter. Equiport do sell them though.

Thanks for that - think I will stick to my heavy stirrups.

Always interested in ideas to save some weight (Lex is so tiny!) - might draw the line at the underwear idea though!

I have sprengers and lightweight stirrups. Previously had always sworn by the sprengers but recently had been using these ones more

What I really like about them is the wider tread, I am pretty sure that because of the wider tread I do not lose a stirrup. Put the sprengers on the other day and really did not like them so much for jumping (they will do nicely on my dressage saddle instead).

Could not justify buying another pair of the Royal Jump ones so ended up with these

A very very good alternative at a fraction of the price. Agree with a post above about the leathers twisting more but as i rarely lose a pedal with either of these stirrups I feel it is worth it.
