Remembering posts back at the beginning of the season re: people saying how they will not be running mid summer due to hard ground and will pick up again in September/October.
Now that August is nearly upon us and we've has so may cancellations due to the wet, whats everybody's feelings/decisions arenow. Will you continue to enter if weather continues as it is meaning more cancellations and miserable weather in the colder months?!

I'm wondering what BE's policy is going to be re. refunding day tickets. They don't usually refund you if you haven't used them - but what about it being impossible to use them? Two of mine have been cancelled - desperately trying to get entries in for more but likely to be balloted - and what then. Bet they won't want to know when I am left with a handful of tickets at the end of the season

Hmm...not sure about day tickets-wonder if they'll let you push them over to next year.

I've made the decision to finish my season at Firle 26/27th August. I am then going away on holiday for a week and really cannot be bothered to continue my season-events are going to be balloting like crazy and if the weather continues like it is, continue to cancel meaning a rather deflated end of season....maybe I'm just chickening out.....

They do refund day tickets if the event you entered got cancelled. You just have to send in proof, so the letter, or slip or whatever you got when you're entry came back? i should imagine they know which one's got cancelled from their records anyway though?

my understanding of the day ticket system was that you would be able to get a refund if you could prove that you weren't able to use it - usually because of balloting, or with vet proof horse not able to run...so i'm sure therefore that the same will apply to abandonment, as this is totally outwith your control

i always planned to do the events close to me right through the year, however, i'm worried now that the level of balloting will increase four fold towards the end of the year now with everyone trying to get a run, and its also making me consider doing other events which are further away just to get a run as well....

not good on the bank balance re: diesel and stabling costs

How many events have you managed this season?
How many were you hoping to do?

Absolute wash out isn't it - can't say I blame you for hanging up your boots for this season

I will have done 6 by the time I finish, which isn't bad considering-but they've all been abit soggy. Was planning to do about 13 in total.

I have always had more planned for September, but tbh its other things that have stopped me competing. Hopefully have 5 more evenet dependant on weather and balloting between now and end of October....
