as the title says really. I was out hacking my friends teamchaser once and was stalked by some weird guy in his car. He kept driving past and turning around etc and waiting down the lane for me to ride past then driving off. After an hour of this was quite unnerved and hurried back to the yard. Police were called and he was arrested. The excuse was he actually thought it might be nice to ask me out for a drink. The biggest load of bull ever created!. He was banned from the area for 3 months. Frightening all the same when on your own.

Got flashed at on a sunday morning at about 8am, riding on a main road!

i had a similar thing with a local junkie last summer. on my way out, he walked into the road and grabbed my horses reins. he was still there an hour and a half later, and did the same thing. i was petrified. he was jst off his face and i guess, harmless. he's since set his house and himself on fire and been locked up somewhere. not nice all the same.

There is a "nice" stalker around our parts - he is just a lonely old man, and he drives around with a bag of carrots on his passenger seat. When he sees horses being ridden, he stops and asks if he can give them a carrot (he ALWAYS asks). I think he just wants someone to talk to.

Yeah, same, kept overtaking us, parking up and letting us ride past. He was having a Tommy Tank as we did so. Would have let rip on him but there were four kids on the hack with us so didn't want to freak them out. What a weirdo

Did call the police when we got home, don't know if anything came of it.

Two men followed me for ages on a hack in a car, so i went down onto the beach and they parked and ran on after me they asked if i anted to meet them later for a drink. I was 17 and they were around 30
Apart from that nothing else really

Had a weirdo get out of his car and try and drag me off my cob when out hacking down a narrow lane. I asked him politely to reverse as there was a passing place just behind him and he refused. He upset me and horsey something rotten. I still shiver when I go down that lane. Apparently he is a local junkie.

I have had 2 'incidents'.
The first one was entering a bridleway that has a gateway with space at the side for horses to enter. A man was parked in the gateway reading a magazine. Eye contact was made and being a polite sort of person, I smiled and said 'Hello'. As I rode past I unfortunately noticed that the mans flies were undone with one hand on the magazine and the other on his... well you know! The thing was, I was riding a circular route so had to come back the same way and he was still there! I tried not to look but he smiled and waved to me!
The second time, four of us were riding in the woods and all our horses were spooking at something in the bushes.....
as we rode past, 2 men were coming out - one in a suit and one in workmans clothing! I don't think they had been having a business conference!

Zoeshiloh, he sounds nice with his carrots. Shame when they have no one to talk to. We also had a local tramp who lived down the lane, he used to sit astride a bike and walk everywhere on his bike, never cycle with 5 or so dogs. He was always asking me the time and the horses were bloomin terrified of him and their eyes would be out on stalks. Although he was completely harmless. He did make me smile and would always give him a £1 when I saw him. Don't mind when they are friendly people even weird friendly. Just not psychotic nutters who terrorise you like my friend in his car!.

actually tried to drag you off?! Omg I would have been terrified!!

I was riding in Richmond Park on my own once and I saw a man all in biege in the far distance who was striding purposefully towards us. He just wanted to pat my horse (or so he said), but my horse knew he was a wierdo and wouldn't let him anywhere near us! He had a magazine rolled up under his arm too...dread to think what was in it. But it was the head to toe beige that stuck in my mind. Met a bunch of junkies in some woods once, they were very friendly! And where I kept my pony as a teenager was down a private track that people used to use for a bit of how's your father! Their faces were a picture when they used to see us squeezing past their steamy mondeo windows...

I must live in an area with an extremely large concentration of perverts and wierdos as this has happened to me and my firends loads, most memorable, if thats the right thing to call it was out riding with my friends, when a guy slowed down, we assume he was going to ask for directions but instead he got out of his car, and just stood there absolutely starkers!! my friend blurted out is that all youve got!! and we shot off down the bridle way, it was scary but I couldnt help but laugh at her reaction, she was just soo unphased by the whole thing!! have also had people follow on foot and by car, also when riding out when I was about 13 with two other friends, a guy popped up on the other side of a hedge, with a shot gun over his shoulder and just said ' im watching you!!!'

Like I say - they all seem to live near me!!

Had a man pop out from a bridleway entrance with a camera and ask if he could take a photo of me and my horse. He then must have found out where said horse was kept, because my neighbour had a letter pushed through her catflap at 6.30 the following morning addressed "to the lady with the lovely smile on the big horse". There was also a poem along the lines of "Jesus loves you" and a very bad photo of me and neddy. He obviously used neighbour's catflap as he couldn't actually see our house. Funny thing is neighbour is 100 times more glamourous than me

- if only he'd known.

A man tried to drag me off my horse once. Said horse had cost me alot of money so not a cats chance in hell i was going to let him drag me off it and the horse piss off, i always hack out with a whip so whipped him over the head numerous times until he let go and i buggered off fast!

i had some guy following me. he looked quite hot really!!
grin.gif
i was only 16 he was probs around 18-19?? he followed me neally all the way home, wolf whistling at me!!! i also had a car reverse up a hill after me!! i had to kick my poor horse on to the bridle track! the guy wasnt stopping though...! i always ride out with a stick so if anyone trys to drag me off my horse or anything stupid like that they won't no whats hit them..! haha

I think (hope) my horse wouldn't stick around if some perv tried anything on coz he's not keen on men he doesn't know and I've gotta feeling he'd put big distance between himself and someone he felt was a threat, he has got a bit of a rear in him at times so he'd probably do that, and IF I was still in the plate I'm sure we'd be fine, BUT I've heard about a man who comes up behind horses on a bicycle and brushes against your legs. I don't know whether this is an anti-horse/rider thing BUT apparently he did it to someone's daughter when she was out riding. I'd call the police on my mobile if I ever see him and he does it to me. Kinky b***d.

Oh it's scary isn't it, don't think I will venture out very far on my own.
Years ago I was stabled in Epping forest and went out for a ride on my very highly strung TB mare, we were walking along a track and she became really agitated and tried to spin, as we got further down a man in black jumped out the hedge, she spun and bolted away in a flash luckily.

I am a total wimp and would be the spookies horse ever, the mare is now retired and I have a young gelding, if there is ever a time he is really reluctant to go forward I heed the warning as figure they have better senses then me.

Ooh too many wierdos about

Just cos you're a lady...

Our yard is on a main road and I have lost count of the number of times a van has gone past and from the multitude of knuckledraggers inside can be heard various shouts along the lines of "gayboy!", "w@*$er", etc. God help me if they found out i was english too
smile.gif
Good job there are no kids on our yard - in more ways than one...

Ironic - I used to be a builder.

Beggars belief that something should fall outside of their world view - well defined by the "sun" or the "mirror".

Knuckledraggers....like it
grin.gif

OH doesnt give a toss what anyone thinks...he rides in shorts and chaps and has a purple helmet-yes, thats right folks-purple
blush.gif

In fact he could be regarded as the wierdo...when we were on livery he could be heard offering selected people a glimpse of his shiny purple helmet.

I had exactly the same when I was out cycling (something I used to do alot of before I bought a horse!!). I was sat in a gateway eating my lunch and he drove past me repeatedly, having a proper good look. I didn't know if it was me (short hair, slim, well wrapped up against the winter cold so I could have been mistaken for a lad) or my rather expensive bike. Either way it scared the wits out of me. As soon as I could I got to a police station and reported it. Police were very good, traced him through his number plate and had a strict word with him. He claimed to be looking for the local fishing lake (yeah right, he didn't live all that far away) but was a man in his 40s still living with his mother - I think that tells you everything! Terrified me at the time though, I can tell you.

There is a strange man who lives round here somewhere who will call up about stuff you have advertised in the paper or tack shop. For instance, selling a pair of white show jods, he'd start off quite normal asking if they were in good condition etc, then he would start asking what shape you bum is and the colour of knickers that would show thru. Selling a saddle, he'd phone and ask about size etc, then says, does it rub? and I'm like, no it hasn't rubbed my horse, and he says, no does it rub your f****!!! WTF! I have learnt to recognise his voice now and hang up asap!!!

I've had someone ask to take a photograph once but I've had the driving and stopping thing when out cycling - the man did it about 6 times and tried to ask me questions but I just kept going and he eventually gave up. I've also had a wierdo on a motorbike follow me and block my path when out running - I make a quick emergency escape cross country and memorised his number and did phone the police about that one. He apparantly claimed he thought I was someone he knew and "just wanted to talk to me".

I had a car of three men that kept driving past me and stopping, i was only 14! Scared the crap out of me, i was alone and the horse i was on wasnt the best in that situation, she could have easily dumped me when they shouted.

LUCKILY (and this is fantastic) as i went down the road past the cherry orchard to the left, i see my dad in their, with his GUN lol, he was on a job to get rid of some bunnies, the car window was open, i shouted hello dad, he turned and waved with his gun over his shoulder, you should have seen these blokes faces.. priceless
smile.gif
They soon went on their way....

I also got flashed in the woods when i was 14, a bloke in a long black coat, with nothing on underneith, i went past a tree and their he was showing all he had, this was in the school term too so he knew there was going to be kids riding around. Creep!! I really didnt have a good year that year!! x

We have someone we call Greyhound Man. Not sure why as he doesn't have a greyhound and isn't a man but a boy. Still he seems to like girls on horses and has often followed us out hacking.

He'll either pretend to be on the phone as he walks behind you (am 99% sure he isnt actually on the phone as he doesn't talk) or he'll have his hand down his pants. He really frightens the young girls at the yard and some of them won't hack out if he's about.

Have only had one dealing with him when my mum came out on a hack with my dog who is a malamute so quite a big dog, I warned my mum about him when I spotted him so she started talking to me about luna being so aggressive to strangers. Seemed to work, he swiftly turned around and walked off!
