You are not alone!! I also found a lush 5 year-old here in Germany and was able to ride it as much as I wanted, and even took it to a competition! But because of my final year of A-levels next year, I just don't have the time for him :( 3 horses is quite enough already, 4 is just pushing it I think!
Let's both hope these kinds of horses come around again next year :)

Yup - after a long break my riding wasn't nearly good enough to buy a green four year old. But oh was she gorgeous awith a wonderful temperment. So I have kinda rushed into the livery I'm in, which is far from perfect, and paid a fortune so that someone competent rides her while I improve.

Did I do the wrong thing - probably, but I love her to bits and we're both improving by the day.

Oh yes! Only mine is twenty years too late!

How I would have enjoyed this horse then. He is an absolute sweetheart, but a challenge to ride as he has been badly treated and has a reactive buck. I am arthritic and not nimble in any way so have never ridden him and probably never will. But to rehome him would be awful, unless we can find a special person.

Meanwhile we spend too much money having him ridden by a professional, who tells us how comfortable he is and believes he will come right.....................

Dreams, dreams...

I got offered the chance of a lifetime to take a horse of my dreams, it was totally the wrong time as was building my own yard & menage so couldnt really afford another on livery or have the time with them divided over 2 yards, nearly cost me my marriage to but looking back now it was worth all the hassle and arguments he is a diamond and has fitted into the family like he's always been there even hubby is glad now we didnt walk away!

Why not email and say you like the look of their horses but cannot proceed at the moment due to this being your exam year, but ask that if not sold by x could they kindly let you know as you would then be in a position to buy.

If I got an email like the above, I would ignore it... Just looks like bored school child horse shopping!

Hahaha obviously it's just a joke :). I wonder though out of curiosity if anyone has ever asked a seller to hold off a month or two and explain their reasons and the seller has agreed.

im really sorry its wrong timing for you!! hang on in there! i have been searching for the perfect horse for 2 years now and i had my stroke of luck last saturday when i went to ride a 15.1 sports horse gelding and i knew instantly that he was the one! he comes this saturday and im so excited! hang on in there hun there will be plenty more horses and you will find another perfect horse. good luck

Console yourself by thinking "it is just an advert, 9 times out of 10 the horse is never as nice as the advert, if I saw it in real life it would probably be lame/mental" you really can't know whether this is the "perfect horse" from an advert, it would be far more gutting if it were a horse you know, say one that you had been loaning or sharing.

No :D

As from the adverts almost anything can look and sound perfect and when you go to try it its disappointing, so I never look at anything in an ad and think its my perfect horse.
If it was a horse I knew and had always wanted that came up for sale at the wrong time that would be gutting I agree.
Theres always another one to fall in love with :)

eta Must type faster as Kat has already said what I was trying to say while I was typing :)

I know how you feel - and still I keep looking! I agree that you must console yourself that you are only in love with an advert. How many posts do we read about horses not matching to the advertisements.
