You would not believe the weekend that I have had, and I think I must be jinxed!!
Just to set the scene, 2 years ago, we were going to an endurance ride in Wadebridge and everything that could possibly have gone wrong, went wrong!! This included our alarm clock not going off so we were late leaving, there was a big crash on the motorway so we had to go miles out of our way, it rained all day and to top it off, i cocked up my timings and got disqualified for finishing 2 minutes too early!!
So fast forward this year and we decide to give it another go and at some point made the mistake of saying 'it can't be as bad as last time'!! Famous last words!!!
Get soaking wet at yard last night sorting all my stuff out ready to go, on my way home had so shove car in hedge/ditch to avoid kamakazee old person and hear an almighty clonk. My suspension is broken!
So that means no tow car. It was my mums leaving party (as she is emigrating soon) in 1 hour and a half so no time to sort anything else out.
My OH normally crews for me and my friend and I didn't want to let her down so agreed to go down and crew for her (180 mile round trip to get to the venue!!) which meant getting up at half 5.
So get up after 5 hours sleep, and go to field to put the horses out before setting off, put spooks and dinky out and go to start mucking out. I am not sure what made me look out in the field again, but I did, and this is what I found!! (bearing in mind I have the place to myself and 2 horses)
12 baby cows!!! Spooks thought it was great and led his 12 babies in a little herd around the field, while dinky cowered nervously in the corner!!
So rather then being on the motorway, I was driving round the countryside trying to find who owned them!
I think i can safely say that 'the gods' do not want me to ever go to that particular ride - dont think i will bother next year!
Did eventually get down there and crewed for my friend but unfortunately her horse flicked up a piece of flint and sliced his stifle and ended up failing the final vet because he was lame - i think i have passed my jinx on to her!!
