.... You wade through snow and deep mud to bring your horse in, and on the return trip to the gate your boot and sock get sucked clean off by the mud, leaving you hanging on to a lead rope, balancing on one leg and trying not to put the other bare foot down in the surrounding mire ??!!! AARGH!!
 
oh god yes!! all the time, got these stupid wellies that are too big and soupy clay , happened to me the other day and while hopping around i slipped and landed on my arse in a huge puddle, while retrieving the escaped welly i dropped it and it filled up with water and my horrid weimeraner ran off with my sock, welly now smells like something died in it and i never found my sock!!
 
My mare would never walk through mud. A number of years ago I went to fetch her in from her field having waded through very deep mud to get her from the far side of the field. I then with the help of treats got her walking through the mud but part way across my wellie got stuck in the mud not wanting to stop Millie walking I kept going leaving my wellie behind unfortunately just before the gate my other wellie got stuck. Having gone in with two wellies on I came out bare foot.
 
No snow, but yes, a few days ago my boot got sucked off by the very deep mud near the hay in the field. I had just got the headcollar on my boy (he looks and waits for you to come to him!), realised both feet were stuck, one foot in the air, had to try to free the boot one handed...thankfully pony decided to stand still and let me lean on him for balance till boot was free...then freed other foot, then first foot again...then realised we would have to move fast enough to avoid getting stuck again...cue fast comic waddle with lots of "encouraging" words to pony... glad nobody was there to film it though at one point I wondered if I should phone for help!
 
All the time at the moment.

Mud comes clear over the horses fetlocks at the moment and well up the cannon bone. I hate it, horses hate it, so glad they are barefoot otherwise they would have had their shoes ripped clear off by now.
 
Yup. A few years ago now but feet were both stuck and I fell splat full length while struggling to take a step forwards. Lost wellies in the process. Actually landed in hysterics at how funny I must look - luckily no witnesses except horses! Now have nice snug Muck Boots!
 
Yep, although no snow here just lots and lots of deep sticky mud :-( To fill water I have to walk across another field to turn tap on and nearly lost my boots about ten times :-(
 
Yep did the mud thing just before Christmas! Both my boots got stuck at the same time and I ended up sitting down into very soggy mud, had to be rescued by my Dad! Oh the shame!!!
 
If the ponies won't come to the gate through the mud, they stay out!!!!!

I have got stuck before, its not funny at the time is it - but hilarious after....
 
Have avoided it this year so far, but years ago sis and I kept our first horse at local farm. The place had not been used as a yard since the days of working horses, so a bit overgrown and we renovated the stable. Mucking out one morning sis got welly stuck in mud and called me to help, my welly got stuck too and we both fell in deep wet smelly mud! Our father laughed hysterically at us, but he has done the same in our place :)
 
Yes. But to add insult to injury, was turning out after being to a show so was in white breeches. Lost welly, horse and was pulled over. Ruined my breeches!
 
Yep, once I was walking through the mud carrying a haynet and my boot got stuck. Pony took advantage of this and grabbed the haynet and I overbalanced and fell in the mud. Little sod then managed to pin me to the floor by standing on my hood as he tucked into the hay.

This, my field has an underground stream running through it, now sitting as surface water, horses hate coming through it, even waiting at the gate for them I could easily lose my wellies, I'm seriously considering using my OH's waders with shoulder straps, but equally, horses hate being stuck in
 
Almost happened to me this morning. After two days off my mare was reluctant to come in to work, and whilst trying to get her to move my boots sank into the wet sticky stuff. Had to loosen a boot from the mud before manoeuvring the pony from side to side to get her to move. Eventually she decided she wanted to come in, but I'm glad nobody was watching!
