I only ask as after weeks of showing my horse to potential people to buy, explaining all about him and the reasons why (begrudginly) I was giving him up, someone viewed him on Saturday, bought him on Sunday and returned him on Monday. Now D when I went to view/buy him was to be with me till his last day. I had problems with the one before him and the one before that was the great love of my life who I lost a few weeks before moving to Somerset. I was over the moon when I found D, and for 2 years he's been, despite many ups and downs and a few broken bones, my best friend. It was a heartbreaking decision to make and the stress of selling him made me ill, depressed and emotional in huge amounts as I really didnt want to get rid of him but felt I wasnt giving him what he needed and deserved because of my bad joints and lack of riding. I thought these people who bought him were going to be fab for him, they did PC, had all the trainers under the sun, and were prepared to bring him back into work properly to enjoy him. Less than 24 hours later I got a call saying he's gone completely psycho (which in turn we found out was utter tosh, all he had done was canter excitedly into the jump. They obviously hadnt listened to what I had told them about schooling him around them first to switch his brain into gear) and that they wanted to return him. Of course I had no hesitation in having him back and when he turned up that night he walked off the truck sweet as a nut, and went back into his filed not a bit of bother. I have no idea where this 'psycho' was and it was then the son told my dad what had happened which meant the mother had given me a load of BS. FFS they hadnt even given him chance to settle in! So anyway, D is his usual self, so chilled he's almost horizontal. You would never have known he'd been away and that had happened. And this is where it leads me to think that we are meant to be as this evening when we rode he felt sort of different. Normally he hates riding in the wind, pretty much freaks him out and is a bit tricky to ride, but this evening all he did was stick his head up in the air for 5 mins before going pretty well, despite his stiff legs. So do you think that he has realised that we are supposed to be together...? That perhaps things will be easier and better between us..? After what happened, I have decided no matter what he is never going anywhere. He's with me for life now.

Sorry to ramble on but do things like this make both you and the horse realise just what a good thing you had going and that perhaps that a little extra work will be worth it??

Ice cream cookie sandwich and a strawberry milkshake if you got this far :D

Things do happen for a reason. I went to view some horses at same yard. I saw a lovely sweet mare, but dismissed her as she was a mare. Saw a gelding at same yard, and said Id buy him, but I did say the mare would be lovely as sweet natured. Anyway, had the gelding vetted and had a grade 2 heart murmour.

So what do I have now???? The mare! She is the sweetest, kindest and honest 4 year old I have met, I love her loads and she is everything I could of wanted and more.

I think fate had a hand in my horsey purchase!

Good luck with your many good time ahead :)

I'd say that defintly happened for a reason ,so glad you decided to keep him now..best of luck with everything x
