hey every one i sent a post earlier in the wk describing my new horse i just wondered if it is better to hack alone in the beginning to get him used to being on his own or going in company so he is not so nervous what would u all suggets?xxxx(many thanks for replies in advance)

go for a littl ehack on your own and see how you get on.. you only have to go alittle way the first time.

I would go in company the first few times. That way if you have any problems you will have another horse to give a lead and give yours confidence.

I always took Murphy out on his own.

Mind you thats because I used to have a horse that WOULDNT hack out alone, so I simply wont entertain the idea of having another one. So I jumped on and dealt with it LOL he was a tad nappy, but those early days with a horse are so important, what he learns from you now he will remember, so make sure what he learns now is what you want him to know.

What Im trying to say in a rounabout way is - take him out on your own, even if its not far. You could be building yourself up for a fall(figuratively!) if you dont!

Now I can go anywhere with Murphy on our own and I believe thats down to biting the bullet right from day one. Good Luck xx
