following on from my before and after post is my mare ewe necked???
DSC00023.jpg

I know she is lacking some topline and slightly over muscled under her neck, but never thought of her as ewe necked before!

Thank you all posted the same pic on another forum ( that will teach me ) and a couple of people commented on her being ewe necked.
I can completely see she is over developed underneath and needs more top line ( if only it was as easy as taking the underneath muscled bit bit and putting it on top of her neck!!)
but couldnt see the ewe neck.
thanks all xx

No she's not at all. She's quite upfront and her neck is maybe set on a fraction high, but being ewe necked is a skeletal fault, where as your mare just needs to re-route some muscling!

I googled to try and find a good pic of a ewe neck for reference - this is from http://caringforyourhorse.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/eweneck2.jpg

This horse's neck comes out of it's shoulder at a really sharp angle - and it's head appears to be more "over" it's shoulders than in front - something no amount of conditioning or work or muscling will change!
