Was just wondering what can cause a ewe neck or is it something some horses are born with and what are the disadvantages, if any, when riding such a horse?
Is it not just a comfomation fault. Its often called 'upside down neck' because the muscles are develpoed in wrong way. I.E the bottom of the neck is muscley and the top weak....SO this horse would not be one which goes in the correct outline. So schooling would solve the problem.
Ewe necks can be in the skeleton or can be just incorrect muscle build up. The muscle can be fixed with correct work, if the problem is skeletal though then the horse will always find it difficult to carry it's neck and head in the desired dressage frame but this does not mean it can't learn to work correctly for it's own build if allowed the time and correct exercises to do so, but it would be unlikel to win any showing or high level dressage classes.
