Has anyone else had this problem? my poor pup keeps getting them and I keep removing them with the tick hook but is there another way to stop them? horse field is close to river, lots of grass. Thanks.

Bravecto. Kills fleas and ticks for 3 to 4 months.
Advabtix also deals with them
Seresto collars also an option.

Hate ticks.horrible little bloodsuckers.
lyme disease is a perfectly good reason not to want them anywhere near you or your pets.

Moving to oz and having seen the horrible effects of paralysis ticks has done nothing for my dislike of the little *******.

hmmm yes I hate them too! I will see about collar! thanks, horses are getting a few as well but not as many as puppy.x

I carry a "tick pick" in my training bag and I have another in the car. They are gross, I know a person who caught Lyme disease from 1 deer tick bite whilst having a picnic in Richmond park. It affected her heart. So I always take ticks seriously

I would not put a collar on such a small dog..too intense and could provoke neurological issues in sensitive dogs.
my vet also says frontline has lost its edge compared to advantix etc..my schnauzers breeder uses bravecto but it's a three month oral dose,so I worry if the dog has a reaction you are screwed.
I've stayed with frontline combo, but with my dogs I also use the spray on the legs,at the elbows,in the tail etc...I use the frontline spray every two weeks, the F.L.top spot every month and it's the only way we've managed with this extremely bad tick season.
after each and every walk I use a slicker brush ,then a fine comb, then a flea comb and take off any new ticks that have just landed.its surprising just how many there are .
