Ex Race Horse Owners!

I am in my second year of a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management. One of our lessons is Investigative project; we are allowed to do a research project on anything we are interested in. So I have based mine on Ex race horses and what happens to them after their racing career. The title is ‘An investigation into the life of a Thoroughbred race horse after its career in the racing industry.’


I would be very grateful if anyone that owns or has owned an ex race horse would fill my questionnaire in. It only takes a few minutes. If you own more than one ex race horse then please just choose one and base the whole questionnaire on the chosen horse. You can fill it out again for the other horses you own.


I can email you the results of this questionnaire if you require.

Sorry to be a grumpy English teacher but in question 8 it should be may have rather than may of. One of my pet hates!

Done :) I also have 2 but could only complete it once. Shame as they are both very different from background to what we do with them.

+1. I write case studies for all of the horses I have backed, started, retrained or rehabilitated since I was 18 and a few from before then. I did have a few years out, but have 32 ex racehorse case studies so if you want more questionnaires filled out, just PM me for my email.

I have not owned many of them though, just in the ineterests of transparency :)

I have now reached the limit of 100 responses (even though 110 people completed my survey!), as I have used a free survey website, so I am limited in amount of questions and responses. :(

That was irritating - as have many different stories from purchasing ex racehorses. The questionnaire was also limited in the Q's it asked, and was not able to provide a broader outlook.
