Happy has now had 6 proper days hunting as well as 8 days cubbing so is really getting the hang of it. Last Tuesday and Saturday he was brilliant and he loves it. He has jumped impeccably over all sorts of things and never got excited when queueing for a jump, will canter in steadily, has jumped big ditches onto banks, off banks, done gates for a day, has brakes 85% of the time. We jumped a row of three sets of rails on Sat and he did the first one perfectly, second one he was going to get wrong so I asked him for a long one and he flew (the girl behind me said "bl**dy hell - that was what they call taking a flyer!!) and did the third perfectly.

I am so chuffed with him and I find it a real sense of achievement when we have great days like we did last week. It means a hell of a lot more to me because he's the first horse I've "made" as it were. I've had horses that would jump the moon before but none as special as this one.

Just goes to show that ex rachehorses can turn their hoof to anything. There's also nothing better than when hounds are running and you have the TB accelaration which means you just nip straight past everyone else!!

My sisters hunter is an ex race horse, from what we can gather he was such a rubbish race horse he would refuse to start! Or even go the other way. They tried a bash at Point 2 Pointing with him but he bascules over the fence thus wasting time in the air and gets left behind. He was described in Mckenzie & Selby directory as "A dog of all horses that hangs like a gate"
He has now found his niche in life hunting with my sister he is a super dyke jumper. He loves been at the back with her gossiping and drinking. I think they are well suited as they both like doing as little as possible!

His full name is Happy Boy. I had to laugh when watching video's of him racing... the commentator would say something about Happy Boy and you could tell the horse really wasn't a happy boy at all!!!

He is a very happy boy now though. He has the life of riley. We were all laughing on Sat because we think the reason he likes hunting so much is that he only has to gallop across about 3 or 4 fields at once and then can have a rest out hunting. Much easier than racing!
