Hi,

Does anyone know what the correct dress code (horse and rider) for an ex racehorse showing class?

The schedule states any tack is allowed inc boots/bandages, but no gadgets. So I'm probably going to use:
brown saddle (numnah or no numnah?)
brown bridle with snaffle bit (coloured browband?)
boots, white dressage bangages, or use nothing on her legs?
plaited or not?

It's judged on conformation (but not racing blemishes) and adaptibility to new job.

What should I wear?

What will I be expected to do in the class? It's a qualifier for Royal London.

Thank you :)

I show my ginger giraffe in brown saddle with a brown sheepskin half pad thing as he has a small hissy if there is nothing under his saddle :D ,generally a brown pelham bridle with a coloured browband (his colours are gold, cream and green),brown leather girth,no boots/bandages,plaited mane and pulled tail and we generally look like this

In the classes I have done (ROR and Ex racer club) we have had a group go round at walk, trot and canter, pulled in in some sort of order, individual show or judge ride then another group go round at walk and trot.

...it depends a little bit on whether you are expected to jump or not, (like in the ROR racehorse challenge class).

I have used the following for both ridden classes and jumping classes:
  • brown saddle and bridle
  • plain coloured discrete saddle coloured numnah (brown or black)
  • coloured browband as mine is a hack type rather than hunter type
  • no boots/ bandages unless it is the jumping phase of the chalenge class and then i just wear plain black tendon boots
    • ...and a definate for plaiting both mane and tail

I have really enjoyed these classes but have found a huge variation in what they are looking for and i think that it really depends on the judge and which discipline they are from. Usually you riude round in a group, and are asked to walk trot and canter. You are then called in and perform an individual show...walk trot canter on each rein and halt then moved off on a loose rein. Usually you are asked to strip off tack and trot up as well.

They are usually really nice classes ful of really nice people :D

Good Luck
