Took Happy for lesson No. 2 on Monday. I was riding this time and it was hard work!! We were concentrating on riding a good circle and getting him to bend the right way. Again he was brilliant - although probably not going as well as when my instructor rode him!! We were both knackered at the end.
Again my instructor commented on what a lovely horse I've got and how genuine he was. Not a huge amount of praise for me except that I've got nice quiet hands (which was better than nothing!).
Have got some pictures and will put them up when I get a chance.
Going back to the funny head thing going up hills - he's stopped doing it. My instructor told me its an evasion tactic (what we thought/hoped!!) and just to give him a good kick in the ribs and hey presto he stops doing it. His trotting up hills since having lessons has changed beyond all recognition and he quite happily trots up hills no matter how steep and doesn't do it once. He is beginning to feel more balanced too and is more confident about going down hills. I was told to practice going a lot slower - apparently I power walk/trot the horse everywhere and need to focus on him going slower and using himself more - i.e using power not speed to get places.
We've got a list of things to practice but things are still improving pretty quickly. I just love the feeling that you get when you are achieving stuff with your horse. Its the best feeling ever!!
Sorry for being boring!!
