ex-racehorses - where from

I'm looking to get an ex-racehorse but can't find one! I live too far away to go to Greatwood or Moorcroft and Heros only has loan horses at mo. So started contacting some trainers but so far none have any horses. Where do they all go!!!

Anyway, where have you guys found yours, apart from going to the sales?
 
You might find that it isn't quite the right time of year. The yard closest to me has its summer racers in at the moment and some coming back in off their summer break. Before the summer season started, and others went on their hols, a few were being sold. Some more are expected to be sold if owners decide not to bring them back from their summer break if they haven't showed enough promise so far. So, I would keep in touch with the trainers near you, or ask if they would hang on to your details so they might contact you if one comes up. I'm sure it will in time! Though the most favoured ones - scope for a good career in something else or particularly well mannered, often go to those who are known by the yard, so they never get the chance to officially go up for sale. I'd get to know your local yards and keep your ear to the ground!
 
What area do you live in? We got Pete from Moorcroft. If you can maybe make the journey (unless you really are miles away) its worth it. They are lovley people - and horses!
