Well, took him to the vet today, he's still a bit dozy, but perked up a lot at being taken out in the lorry, he was moving slowly but that's more likely due to the fact he's thrown a shoe and he gets sore when he does that.
He had a very detailed manual exam done, once he let the vet touch him. I have to say I was very impressed, our normal vet can get aggressive, this one just stayed very calm as did his assistants and after a few moments of throwing himself around, my lad stood very well even when his neck was getting checked! The vet understood he was nervous and not being 'a stupid bad horse'.
anyway, onto the good news. Yes, a bit of soft tissue swelling where he hit his head but he couldn't find any breaks or anything of the sort and said there wa absoloutely no reason not to go to Necarne (I only mentioned it once he had been examined and given the all clear) and to work away, although keeping an eye out for anything abnormal.
I was very impressed by him and may take my big lad to him if we still have him for further treatment as he prefers him now I think.
So basically he has been lucky and has what is the human equivalent of a black eye. Somewhere there is a little break in something, be it skin etc. to cause the airy swelling but he has no hairline fractures or anything, which I'm pleasantly surprised at, as otherwise he would have shown pain.
