Harvey our duck toller/ toller x, 10 yo. Poor Harvey went for his jabs 2 weeks ago next monday, then started vomiting at night.
Took him to the vet as worried it was a reaction to his jabs. Vet diagnosed a virus, said they'd seen about 20 that day with d&v.

Wee sisters dog also appears to have had this but is now fine after 2 days d&v.

Vet prescribed Zantac & boiled rice & chicken.

He is back to himself during the day but at night has been waking me up. He is restless & swallowing excessively.

He's not being sick & usually settles down after being let out, at which point he lies down on cold/wet grass before coming back inside. He's not gagging or eating grass. Poo's are normal looking but quite small. Gut sounds apparent & if anything are increased slightly.
Tummy soft & palpation not causing any signs of pain, although he's not really one to complain.

Any ideas appreciated, back to the vet on Monday. :(

excessive swallowing can be a sign of feeling sick, i am sure it could indicate other things too, how long has he been unwell? i would probably phone the surgery and ask to speak to a vet as lying in the cold wet ground may indicate he is trying to lower his temperature as he is running a fever-it would give me peace of mind to speak to them

Thank you. Should have said, no fever, heart & lungs normal.

As above, he was initially ill a week past on Monday (11 days) has been to the vets twice in this period & is going back on Monday. Vet is aware of all if the above & felt lying on cold ground was due to upset tummy.

You said abdomen soft on palpation but any pain on palpation? Is he uncomfortable? Sounds like he is hypersalivating - maybe feeling nauseaous.

Twiglet it's really hard to tell as he never ever complains, yelps etc.

Today the vet felt he was uncomfortable while he was palpating his stomach, the only sign was that he turned his head to look at the vet. He's on mild painkillers & antibi's and we'll keep a close eye on him.
