My Mare has been behaving quite erratically this summer. Usually she is quite bombproof but since the start of her coming into season she is extremely spooky, to the point that I will not ride her when in Season, I do not mind giving her a week off.
Now I am noticing that she is spooky all of the time and will leave the yard but then nap to go back to the yard, I can push her on but when we turn for home she is like a bat out of hell and is quite dangerous on the busy lanes.

So I am trying to investigate what is wrong. She has recently had her teeth and feet checked and I am having her saddle checked next week.

The only other thing I have noticed is where normally she never urinates when we are out, even on long hacks. Now even a 45 minute ride she has to stop to urinate and if we are in the School, maybe twice. I realise the weather has been very hot so this may be the reason, does this sound like I should get my vet to check her?

She is 12, MW coloured cob, lives out 24/7 I worked really hard to get her weight down over the winter and I would say she is in the best condition of her life. Usually we would be working, mainly hacking 4/5 times a week but at the moment< maybe once or twice as she is just not right. I think I will call the vet and just get her checked, sometimes you just need to ask the question that you already know the answer to. Thanks C
