My mare has become very excitable coming in and out of the field, rushing forward, bucking and spinning around, the ground is so wet I think we are both going to end up on the floor!
Also when out riding when asked to go into trot she tries to buck and rear with excitement, any suggestions??

She has just started having mollichaffe calmer and global herbs supacalm ,but only one feed when she comes in and only 2 handfuls, she can be a bit spooky which is why I put her on it.

If you have changed somethng and yur hrse's behaviur changes for the worse, then undo the change you've made. i.e. stop the mollichaff calmer and supacalm. My guess is that she is reacting badly tothe alfalfa in the mollichaff.

Agree with pearlsasinger. She may be reacting to the alfalfa or the sugar content.
Stop feeding to see if it makes a difference and take her into the school and do lots of groundwork to establish in hand manners and groundrules!

I agree with Pearlsasinger. Take no notice of what is says on the bag as it depends on your horse. I have an Irish Sports who is so calm he is almost horizontal and yet he is on competition mix, hi-fi and oats yet my ex-racer was fed the lowest heating food I could find and was still highly strung.

Put your mare back on what she was on before but feed more if you need to.

Can you give her hay in the field? If they are hungry and in a rush to get in they can misbehave.
I would look for an unmolassed, alfalfa free chaff, which are like gold dust to be honest. There are some threads in Stable Yard about chaff.

She is a good doer, and have only just started feeding her as she`s coming in at night for the winter, she is a typical `chestnut mare` so didnt want to start her on feed which would make her more loopy than she already is,which is why I chose the mollichaff calmer, she has lost weight since coming in but have now upped her haylage intake, she was much quieter to bring in tonight as i got there before the rush.

To confirm she gets a total of 2 handfuls? If that is correct that will not be causing excitable behaviour. 2 handfuls would be about 10g of feed. That is seriously not enough to impact on behaviour.

I would imagine it could be that she is cold, or feeling fresh from the wind and rain.
