I've been looking only briefly for a few months now just looking at a few and for the last week I have been infatuated by one little filly. She's gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for, and way under budget. Now I am getting really excited, the OH has agreeded that we can go and look at her next week (me and the OH have sorted everything out if anyone else has read some of my other threads).

Now i am excited because I am allowed to ring tomorrow and sort out a viewing, but now I am petrifed that she will already have gone. :(

Send me good vibes please people!! :D

*Sending good vibes* :). Im off to look at a selection from a stud today & hoping Il find something/be able to pick between them!! Good luck with the filly :) bet your continually time watching until you feel its a reasonable enough hour to ring up!! Hehe :D

Thanks for the vibes everyone!!

It must have worked! :D

Off to view her on Tuesday and I can't wait, she's a year and half, mostly black with a few spots of white on her, good strong legs, hopefully might make a showjumper for me!

Any advice people for when I view her?

Will you be able to see her dam?

With both of my youngsters, I was able to meet the dams (and the sire of my filly) and I found this really helpful. Both Dams had lovely temperaments and were just the sort that I'd like to own (good conformation too). Neither of them had become broodmares because they were dangerous to ride or because they were cripples. ;) They were fantastic mares that had quality foals by fab stallions.

With the youngsters, I looked at their confo and asked whet the breeders had done with them. My filly hadn't done much, but she was well handled, led and picked her hooves up nicely. I spent some time with her, grooming her and just getting to know her. Her personallity hasn't changed at all over the years, so whether or not you actually 'like' the youngster is very important.

My gelding had done a bit more, so as well as catching him and bringing him in for a groom, we took him for a walk down the lane in-hand. Again, I liked him but he has got alot calmer as time has passed after his gelding operation.

Ask about vaccinations, how often has the farrier trimmed their hooves, have they ever been travelled, have they worn a rug, been taught to tie-up, what hard food do they have, are they used to electric fences, being stabled?

You need to know what they have and haven't done. Myfilly had worn a rug and you could rug her up easily but she hadn't learnt to tie-up. So I could rug her easily but had to spend time teaching her about being tied.

My gelding was the other way around, he tied nicely but had never worn a rug. It was very useful information as when I rug him I do it carefully and the first time I folded the rug very small and spent time gently introducing him to it.

Will you be able to see her dam?

I will be able to see her dam, but not sire. She's been out all summer, but apparently can be stabled quite easily, she's already 15hh, hasn't had a rug on but is very well handled.

If I sent you a link to the ad do you fancy looking over for me?

Oooh, I'd love to see the ad (I'm so nosey :p ).

:)

Opinion is good for me! :P I think I am nervous, because although I have started a lot of horses, they have never just been mine. And she's the only one who has caught my eye so far, and i must have looked through 100s of ads :P

PM on it's way! :D

Well a little update. I saw her yesterday and really liked her, she is a real looker and friendly which is what I hoped she was. Only downside not had her jabs, do you think I can be cheeky and ask for 50 quid off for that?

Personally if she's what you want & under budget I'd just pay it. But I'm soft & tend to pay the asking price.
