Now I don't want to speak too soon, because knowing my luck, something will go horribly wrong! But I'm so excited I really want to post!
I have been searching for a new rescue dog for a long time, I wanted to take my time and find my ideal dog and not rush into the wrong decision, and at first I was looking for terrier type dogs as I already have a rescued terrierXpoodle, but recently I have been looking at very large breeds (I have lots of experience with them but have not had one for years).
So to cut a long story with lots of pitfalls short, I have found my new rescue! She is a 9 month old great dane pup rescued from a home full of fostered children (not a cruel home, but she couldn't cope and it was totally the wrong environment for her), she is VERY nervous, and when I say nervous I mean it! She is a very sensitive girl who needs some time dedicated to gaining her trust and getting her confidence up. At the moment she is being looked after by a lovely dedicated lady in Blackpool, and with any luck I'm picking her up next weekend, its a very long journey from East Sussex, and I'm still in the process of trying to bribe my brother to drive me as I want to be a passenger and make sure she is ok (she is terrified of the car). She has just had a full check at the vets and all is looking good, only issue was getting her to the vets as she is terrified! The lovely lady looking after her said its a blessing she is still a pup as she had to lift her in and out the car!
Wish me luck! As soon as I saw her I knew I wanted her! If all goes well I will pop up photos and probably ask for lots of help and advice on getting her settled! At the moment she is too nervous to go on walks, but I hope that Heffner the terrier will help encourage her and we can slowly gain her trust and get her out walking with us!
