Now I don't want to speak too soon, because knowing my luck, something will go horribly wrong! But I'm so excited I really want to post!

I have been searching for a new rescue dog for a long time, I wanted to take my time and find my ideal dog and not rush into the wrong decision, and at first I was looking for terrier type dogs as I already have a rescued terrierXpoodle, but recently I have been looking at very large breeds (I have lots of experience with them but have not had one for years).

So to cut a long story with lots of pitfalls short, I have found my new rescue! She is a 9 month old great dane pup rescued from a home full of fostered children (not a cruel home, but she couldn't cope and it was totally the wrong environment for her), she is VERY nervous, and when I say nervous I mean it! She is a very sensitive girl who needs some time dedicated to gaining her trust and getting her confidence up. At the moment she is being looked after by a lovely dedicated lady in Blackpool, and with any luck I'm picking her up next weekend, its a very long journey from East Sussex, and I'm still in the process of trying to bribe my brother to drive me as I want to be a passenger and make sure she is ok (she is terrified of the car). She has just had a full check at the vets and all is looking good, only issue was getting her to the vets as she is terrified! The lovely lady looking after her said its a blessing she is still a pup as she had to lift her in and out the car!

Wish me luck! As soon as I saw her I knew I wanted her! If all goes well I will pop up photos and probably ask for lots of help and advice on getting her settled! At the moment she is too nervous to go on walks, but I hope that Heffner the terrier will help encourage her and we can slowly gain her trust and get her out walking with us!

How exciting! Do hope it all works out for you. What a shame for such a young dog to be so nervous though :(

Oh and LOVE the fact your other dog is called Heffner! :D

Thanks :) I think she is going to be a challenge, but totally worth it, and worth the 10 hour round trip to get her! The lady looking after her at the moment described her nerves a little like a young horse, put too much pressure on her and all your hard work goes to pot. I think it will take a while to work her out but I hope that by new year she will be settled and enjoying life a bit more. As soon as she is home I will be posting photos! She is quite leggy at the moment and pretty slim. Can't wait to pick her up!

And here is a photo :)
