I am a gym member and before I got my horse on loan last month, was down there up to three times a week. Now I have her I'm considering giving it up (extra £55 a month to put towards her) as I haven't been once! I thought I was in quite good shape but I'm aching like a goodun!

Just wondering if anyone manages to fit in any exercise apart from riding or generally being around the horses?

I go to the Gym every morning as I have nothing else to do (looking for a horse at mo), but will continue to use gym it's a military one so costs me a tenner a year so I can't not use it lol...I also have housework to do hate hoovering the stairs...lol

What gym do you go to!!!! Mine is £13 a month, bargain :)
Yes I think you should keep a gym membership, just find a cheaper one! Even half an hour in the gym is bloody hard work if you make it that way!

I know! I am on couples membership at David Lloyd, £110 a month, and that is cheap as we have discount from my boyfriends job! My dad pays £75 just for him. It's right by my house, there is a Virgin gym about half hour away for not much less as well. I feel bad paying so much when I'm not using it.

You don't need to spend a fortune on gym membership - far better having the horsey :) I ride my horse 5-6 days a week in summer but not as often in winter. I do Pilates once a week (£5 a class) which really improves your riding and go mountainbiking as I have a track behind my house. I found that even a small amount of running for cardio has helped with my riding fitness. And I teach PE once a week.
You will also find that mucking out etc burns loads of calories, and means you don't need to do weights. I am far stronger than the ladies at pilates who go to the gym!

Ahhhh David Lloyd, the posh gym ;)
Much too rich for my blood, ill stick with Pure Gym, I do miss the sauna though with the more expensive gym memberships.......
