Looking for some exercises (flatwork or jumping) to help me get used to my new horse. He tends to lean a bit on my hands and i find it hard to get him into corners so any to help those faults would be useful. Basically just looking for some new exercises to do whilst in isolation at home!

Use poles in the corners to go around- so make a corner out of poles about 1m in from the track and ride between those and the track. If that's very difficult then start with the poles a bit further in and gradually narrow it up.
i also use a similar idea for riding nice square turns on serpentine loops with a pole to go around. These can double up to mark out a square to ride in the middle

i would suggest no jumping and if you have to ride try and keep to slow exercises as this is a new horse...i would do leg yielding along the sides and keep him in leg yield round the corner to give him the idea of going right into it. you have to be careful to keep changing to walking straight so he doesnt end up on 2 tracks..
