When putting on polo bandages for riding/exercise I always like to bandage to below the ergot, round the fetlock joint, similar to where a sports medicine boot would go. I do this because I feel it offers more protection as well as supporting the joint. But I've recently had a new livery come onto my yard who doesn't like this method and wants me to only bandage to the ergot or just above it as otherwise the horse could catch the botom bit of the bandage with it's foot and loosen it. I think this is silly as surely it's better for the horse to potentially catch the bandage with it's foot than the alternative which would be for it to strike into itself, at least then it would have some protection, also this way the fetlock has much less support.
Anyway those are my reasons, so just wondering how you guys do it and why!
