Exercise sheet and wind ?

I was looking at exercise sheets and was just wondering from a safety perspective whether anyone with an equisafety wrap around reflective rug had any problem with it blowing up in the wind? It seems to come down really far. I ride quite a lot in the wind so wasn't sure whether the wind would catch it and blow it up or out?

When we had one on our tb it blew up quite a bit in the wind....it's not that heavy.

Lighter sheets blow around a fair bit. My hi-viz mark Todd sheet doesn't blow around that much in the wind and my horseware fleece sheet barely moves as it is thicker and heavier.

Haven't got that particular make, they can blow up in the wind though. My horses don't actually seem that bothered but I can guess that it could worry others greatly. Using a fillet string helps a lot and I just smooth it back down from the saddle.
If you are handy with a needle you can do what we have done and sew hi-viz reflective strips round the edge of something like a thermalux/thermatex sheet. These are great for the winter, they sort of mould to the horse and don't blow up as easily as the lighter sheets.

I have the equi safety ones they are not safe in the wind IMO.

I don't use my equisafety one in the wind, as it does billow out - my horse doesn't mind but one of the other horses I ride with does mind it.

I thought about getting some weights (like the ones fishermen use to weight the line) and sew them around the bottom of the sheet just to make it a bit heavier.

I have a sheet that I wear out and about. It can blow a bit but the BGP doesn't notice!

What I do find is that sometimes it can cause her to sweat underneath a bit?

The only time mine blew about was when I first got it and I'd forgotten to put the filet string on!! Durrr! Luckily horsey wasn't bothered!

It has come with several loops and several bits of 'string' so you can either make a fillet string across the back you can or leg straps (which I did using quick release knots). This is the first weekend I've used it and its been great. Hasn't slipped or blown like my other one used to. I don't find fillet strings stop them from blowing around that much.

That's what those extra loops were for - leg straps!!!!!! I was wondering!

I've got the equisafety sheet and it does lift up in the wind, even with a fillet string on. I think if I strapped it down enough that it wouldn't blow up, it would restrict his movement...

On the other hand, none of the horses who have worn it have been bothered by the yellow balloon following them - or any of the horses following it... the warmblood did spook at his reflection in it though...
