A blasphemous subject on such a hot day, but I'm thinking ahead! I've always fancied a Newmarket (style! Cheaper is fine too ;) ) exercise sheet. But thinking about it now I can't see when I'd use one.

Winter hacking - I'd want something reflective and waterproof.
Winter schooling - it'd probably want to be waterproof as well!

Which just leaves Winter schooling on cold, dry days, right? I'm failing to justify this to myself, help! What do you use and when?

I thought the same but we have a few now & they get used almost constantly. Out hacking, canter work if its really cold, schooling unless its peeing down. The horseware ones are pretty water resistant and I find they sit much better and don't flap around as much as waterproof ones so are a lot better :)

I seem to have a collection of them :o (and now suspect i need a shetland to dress up too?)
I too was very drawn to the newmarket fleecey one, so we use that on freezing cold days for schooling (was great in the snow!)
I have 2 hi viz ones (one for winter, one mesh version for summer which is also fab for keeping flies off)
A waterproof red one and a blue fleecy one (similar to thermatex) - neither of which get much use if i'm honest!

.......really must have a clear out x

I use a newmarket exercise sheet in the winter. I have a woolen one and a wrap around Horseware fleece one. I will hack in them and I put reflective, hi-viz boots on the 'oss plus a tabard and hat band on me, so we're pretty easy to spot.

Ok, I'm sold :D I've always loved them. As a kid I was convinced my cob would look silly in one (idiot child), and now I have a 'more suitable' horse (and a better attitude!) I think it's high time :)

I suppose there's no reason why one couldn't be scotch guarded, too, right?
