Due to some saddle issues over the summer, my horse has lost some topline so I want to really focus on improving this over the next couple of months.
Due to the weather weve had, our arena is a bit hard at the moment and I expect that over the next month or so it will stay that way unless we get a good spell of milder weather. The roads and tracks that we usually hack on are also a bit slippy although my plan is to long line on the tracks once I finally get the hang of that.
Im looking for some exercises that I can work on in walk so that hes not left doing nothing until the weather improves this will be a mix of ridden and in hand (on long lines or lunge).
I rode the other night and focused on some reinback to walk transition, lots of bending, stretching, lateral work.
Ill also be doing some walk over poles/cavalettis and some carrot stretches every day. Weather permitting, well do some long lining around the forest including up and down some hills if its not too slippy?
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?
