I first posted on here when my teenage daughter started loaning her horse and was warned it was a slippery slope! In the 18 months since then, we’ve bought him, moved yards so he can have better turnout, bought a trailer, joined Pony Club etc etc ...
And now I’ve started riding again, after a gap of around 40 years?
I rode a bit as a child but was never very good - I got to the point of being able to walk, trot, canter and go over tiny cross poles. Then other things got in the way and I had to stop. But spending so much time around my daughter’s lovely horse has got me hankering to give it another go. I’ve had a couple of lessons on a simulator and today had my first lesson on a real horse. The basics are sort of there still but I’m obviously very, very rusty and I need to improve my riding fitness.
I walk the dogs every day and cycle into work 2-3 times a week (a 2.5 hour round trip) so my basic fitness isn’t too bad but my core strength and flexibility could do with a boost.
As all my spare cash is spent on the horse and now my lessons as well as my daughter’s, I’m hoping to get some recommendations for websites or YouTube channels specifically aimed at returning riders - and if they could factor in my age (mid 50s) and lack of bounce that would be good too!
