My horse is slowly learning his own striding and has to rely on me less, but do you know of any exercises i can do with him to teach him his own striding at a fence?

jump him on the lunge.
or use placing poles - sorry, not sure what the distances are but my instructer did this with me and my horse so that I didn thave to think about the stride because so long as they get over the pole they are in the perfect place to take off for the fence. was brilliant.

Basically, keep practising. poles on the ground, placing poles and passive riding will get you there
