Excellent. I'm around the same height & weight as you SJ_Superstars & have seen a gorgeous exmoor advertised, perfect for me & my mother to share while my youngster is growing up. My mother is petite & the exmoor could easily carry her but i just needed reasurrance it would carry me ok every now & then! I may get a few funny looks with my height but oh well!
Yes I'm sure you would be fine. The one I used to ride was actually too strong for most of the children who were the right size for him. They definitely make good adult's ponies and you can have so much fun with them! I used to get a few strange looks too but I didn't care... he is honestly one of the most best ponies I have ever ridden! Hope you have as much fun with yours as I did with him!
Hi, I'm 5ft7 and 10 1/2 stone, and my exmoor easily carries me with no problem at all. The only problem I have is remembering how much sooner you hit the ground when dismounting (I usually ride a 16.2) as she feels so much bigger because of her build. She's a lovely forward-going ride, super with traffic and very inquisitive - great fun.
Exmoor ponies are hardy little perishers! Traditionally they'd be expected to take Exmoor farmers out hunting all day up on the moor and so they'd be well up to weight and still have plenty of fizz in the tank at the end of the day!
I had a little Exmoor as my first pony - little horror!
As long as she's not a weedy exmoor she could easily carry you. The Exmoor trekking near here have a 12st weight limit for their bigger ponies. We have an exmoor in the field that I'd happily ride with no worries of being too heavy (I'm 5'8 and 10.5st)
